wireless coverage unavailable suddenly

From today afternoon I haven't been receiving emails, I can't use BBM or connect to the internet.  Twitter and other apps say there is no network connection. When I try to set up email settings it says that my connection to the mobile network is on, but I am not in a wireless coverage area.  I am in my house, and I've never had any problems with wireless coverage until today, so I am not sure what happened.

I have already reset the phone several times by removing the battery, and when I called O2 they weren't very helpful, since there is no problems on their end. Any advice?

Re: wireless coverage unavailable suddenly

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

So, your voice services are fine, but all of your data services are not? If so, please try the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not...

It's such a shame when a carrier agent fobs their paying customers off like that. You see, you pay O2 for 100% of your services and 100% of your formal support, and right now they are delivering neither to you. You should be very upset (with them!) about that fact.

Good luck!

Re: wireless coverage unavailable suddenly

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Step 1 was unsuccessful, I got the following message: registration message queued. It will be sent once data coverage is available.

Step 2 didn't work either: your connection to the mobile network is turned on, but you are not in a wireless coverage area.

O2 tried sending me the service books earlier, but I didn't receive anything.

Step 3 didn't work once again...

Proceeding, with this unsuccessful, is moot. Hence, the instruction to wait before proceeding to the next step...

Given your result, the action is as I mentioned in the last paragraph (before auto-sig) in my above post. It is their network to which your BB is unable to attach...

Good luck!

Could it be a physical fault?

Re: wireless coverage unavailable suddenly

There are a lot of things it could be, but diagnosing at an internet distance is rather challenging. Such diagnosis really needs to be in-hand by a qualified hardware technician. Hence, O2 is where you need to be working as they'd provide that as well...

I guess I'll have to pop into a store and try to sort it out. Thanks for the help.
