Help BB style won't turn on

Hello everyone..

I am in desperate need of help, this morning, I woke up, and my phone was perfectly fine, I checked the messages I had, and even texted my sister, then suddenly my phone turned off by itself, I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't turn on. I thought, okay maybe it was the battery, so I changed the battery and put a new one that was 100% charged, and still nothing, the red light wouldn't even come on, it's dead. I tried everything and yet it doesnt do anything. PLEASE HELP!!

a couple weeks ago, something similar happened, except that when I put the new charged battery, it turned on eventually, but now, its been more than 3 hours since it turned off.. what can I do?...

The charging port is broken so I can't plug it, but I do have an external battry charger which i charge the two batteries I have.

Re: Help BB style won't turn on

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Given what you describe, you are in a difficult situation...if the BB won't turn on at all (as you describe), then there are no diagnostic procedures you can run. Everything now would require USB tethering to a PC...which requires the use of that broken port. So you are stuck.

I recommend you seek a local (to you) shop with a qualified BB technician to provide you with a proper diagnosis and estimate.

Good luck!

Re: Help BB style won't turn on

thank you for replying, a while ago, I pulled the battery out and put it back again and it turned on, but as soon as I tried to used it, it turned off again!

I'll try to find it to a bb repair store! if nothing works I might have to buy a new phone :smileysad:

Oh! That's not what I interpreted from your first post...in that case, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

You may also need the use of these tricks:

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Help BB style won't turn on

Nothing worked! Some of those options needed to connect the phone to the usb port, and my charging port is broken, so there's nothing I can do.. Thank you though! for your help!

Hmmm..."nothing worked"...hmmm...from just that, I can't tell if you could enter Safe Mode but nothing changed, or if you could not even enter Safe Mode at all. But, no matter I think...

Many things require the use of the USB port...including taking regular backups of your BB so as to protect the priceless information thereon. Lacking that, you are at grave risk of complete data loss...

I'd recommend you find a local (to you) shop with a qualified BB hardware technician to give you a proper evaluation and estimate.

Good luck!
