Icons missing after upgrade

Greetings,

I just upgraded my device software from 6.0.0.415 to 6.0.0.706, and two icons are now missing from the All screen. I've been able to figure out that one of the missing icons is MySpace. How do I find out what the other one is?

Clicking App World > My World > Uninstalled doesn't show anything.

Thanks,

Shane.

Thanks—we're discussing several topics, I thought it might be simpler to just break this out into a new thread.

I wish that any apps that were removed during the upgrade process would be moved to App World's "Uninstalled" list, instead of just having them vanish completely.

I know that this likely isn't going to get fixed... but I usually post any way in the hopes that BlackBerry employees read this.

Structurally and for maintaining knowledge, it's actually most often better to keep all things together, especially when they are inter-related. For example, if someone comes across just this one thread, they will very likely not go and look at any of your other threads. Consequently, they won't know what has already gone on for your situation(s), and will likely provide you with redundant advice.

Actually, if they are AppWorld provided apps, they should...the AW servers forever maintain record of your apps. Sometimes, the on-device AW client loses it's sync with the servers, but that can be recovered by clearing the AppWorld application cache:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3. Follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Touch Screen Only BBs -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

3c. For newer (e,g., OS6 and 7) BB's, see this KB:

    • KB24714 How to clear the BlackBerry App World cache

4. AppWorld should close.

5. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot

6. Return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it may be sluggish while it re-synchronizes).

If step (4) does not happen as listed, then the clear cache did not work.

It does, of course, require you to be using the exact same BB ID/AppWorld credentials.

Hopefully it'll work for you! Good luck and let us know!

Re: Icons missing after upgrade

[ Edited ]

If I go to www.blackberryAppWorld.com and click on My World, does it show me the apps on the server, or the device? Because it doesn't show the MySpace app or anything that's uninstalled.

Re: Icons missing after upgrade

If you go to that from your computer/browser and have logged in with your BB ID, it will show you what the servers think the device has presently installed (but not, I believe, what has been uninstalled). But, if the servers and the device AW have gotten out of sync, then it may not be accurate...and the clear cache process I gave you above rectifies that.

For your situation, it is best to be using exclusively the on-device AW interface...that has a clearly defined "uninstalled" section of the interface.
