Hi and welcome to the forums!
The problem can be caused in several ways.
1. There is insufficient storage space on the BlackBerry smartphone.
2. A setting on the BlackBerry smartphone is set to delete messages after a certain time frame.
3. The BlackBerry Internet Service account is configured to remove email messages from the BlackBerry smartphone when they are deleted from the messaging server.

Thanks for the help. It seems #3 was the issue. I disabled my wireless email reconciliation as per instructions in the articles attached. Hasn't dropped an email all day.
