Alphanumeric Keyboard

Hi, i've been looking, but i can't find a way to change the virtual vertical qwerty keyboard to the virtual 12-key alphanumeric keyboard, i can only change it to qwerty, qwertz or azerty, is there any way to have the alphanumeric keyboard as a default for all aplications??

Thanks!

Are you looking for the SureType keyboard, is this what you're asking?

Use the Universal Search for "Keyboard" and therein you can set the Portrait View Keyboard to Suretype.

Re: Alphanumeric Keyboard

Thank you for your response. However, when I go to the keyboard settings, as the other user reported I have 3 options in the "keyboard layout" box, which are QWERTY AZERTY and QWERTZ. In the "Portrait keyboard type" I have only Full and Reduced.

I have the BlackBerry Torch.

This is the first time I have owned a BlackBerry so thank you for your patience.

Best wishes.

And did you enable the reduced keyboard?

Re: Alphanumeric Keyboard

Yes. It still a qwerty layout, just with 2 letters per key.

Isn't there not a standard alphanumeric keypad like on all other phones?

Thanks again for your help.

That is the SureType keyboard I thought you wanted.

What you want is what is called a T9 keyboard on other phones. No, the Torch does not have that, no BlackBerry device has that, except for the 9105 Pearl2 model.

Re: Alphanumeric Keyboard

Thank you for your help. As I say, this is my first BlackBerry and I assumed what you referred to as SureType was also what I was referring to.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Re: Alphanumeric Keyboard

I just discovered a mode called "multitap" which is availble on the reduced keyboard layout on the menu... This is basically what  I was looking for. It has a numeric keypad layout with letters assigned to each number, just on other phones.

I am fairly certain I didn't see that before I updated the OS to bundle 2475 on Friday, but I may be wrong.
