Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

It was clearly stated at BlackBerry World conference this past week that OS7 would only be available for new devices.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

I was more than a little disappointed to learn that my beautiful Torch 2 (less than a year old) wouldn't be getting OS6. Reading now that the current top of the line Torch won't be getting OS6.1 (OS7) just goes to prove one thing: RIM are out to screw their customers. Thanks RIM. Time to reassess the value of BIS/BES in my life.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

My Torch purchased in December 2010 from an authorized dealer was delivered with OS6. I got a BB email yesterday that OS7 is available to download and install on my device.

Unfortunately many BB owners purchase on the gray market with questionable, perhaps unauthorized installations.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

I would not trust that email

OS 7 will not work since the current Torch does not have Open GL.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

This is not fair!! We spend a lot of money buying the newest phone from Blackberry and than now that it comes another newer than the Torch RIM is not releasing the OS 7.0 that is just make customers to look for another device on another company and changing from Blackberry. I would do it because I bought the phone in telcel for 900 Dlls and I bought it due to the new syste it came out 6.0. Blackerry should release the 7.0 only to the newst phone whcich is the BB Torch! Hope they see this post and hope more people start claiming for this issue that its seems to be really selfish!!!!

Maybe it's you that's screwed up! First off, the Torch 2 hasn't even been released yet as only leaked photos have surfaced (February/May 2011). Second, the Torch 9800 (1) debuted with OS6 installed!!!

I'm no fanboy per say by any means though I'll always recommend BlackBerry for their continued growth, support, and reliability. You should be thanking RIM though I'd suggest leaving your gratitude to the very end. Thanks RIM!
