At first my phone's orientation doesn't work and the virtual keyboard won't show up. Then suddenly, every time i close the slide the screen blinks. Now, i thought that the screen comes completely blank but I can see the background and still can touch the icons. It is just too dark. Maybe i the backight is out.

What would be the problem and needed to be done, because i'll be trying to get it fixed?

By the way it is not in warranty now.

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Yes I have done that many times and nothing worked. Just want to know what are the possible fixes to be done so that I have an idea of what part to be replaced. I know this would be a hardware problem and will try to have it fixed.

Ah, OK...the best thing is to seek in-person evaluation by qualified hardware technicians. At an Internet distance, it's rather close to impossible to actually diagnose the problem. Competing evaluations and quotes would be your best route for moving forward.

As an update, the problem is the flex. It is torn half way that's why some of the functions are not working. With the new flex, the screen is now again visible, no blinks while sliding and the sound during handset calls are okay. But still the problem regarding the virtual keyboard and screen orientation still persist. I have read that you can put a magnet on the back, above the expandable memory slot, as a workaround. This will temporarily fix the virtual keyboard and screen orientation problem. It also said that an IC needs to be fixed to remove the problem. I haven't tried it but will update again once it is fixed.
