BBM problem

Hello guys,

I had trouble with this phone (software + hardware issue) and was in repair for the past 2 weeks. I finally got it back but however, I subscribe for the Blackberry social service package and received sms stating that it has been activated. However I can't use the bbm nor the yahoo messenger, FB and twitter. I called the carrier they said that their system shows that I have activated the service and its active and they say it might be problem with the phone. I just checked the "service status" option and the BlackBerry Internet Service section shows "Not Connected". Btw I have torch 9810 with firmware 7.0.0.585. is there options that need to be changed or smthing to get it running?

Re: BBM problem

Hello!!

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then will need to continue working with your mobile service provider for formal support...and also possibly the repair shop (to find out if perhaps they changed something).

Good luck!

Re: BBM problem

thanks for the reply tried step 1 and i haven't received the message yet. Because before I was using BBM and did the registration, that can be the reason that i don't receive it. 2nd step, i am not using the email service, just using the social service package (BBM, FB, Twitter, Whatsapp, yahoo messenger, and MSN). did the third step and waitng (not an hour yet)

i informed the repair shop and he asked me to bring him the phone and he will do the checkings to run it! Will try calling the carrier again and force them to reach a solution :smileytongue:

Re: BBM problem

As I said above, you must wait for each step to complete before proceeding; the failure of step 1 means that nothing else matters. You simply must receive that registration message back to your BB before proceeding...it matters not that you may have anytime in the past done this, it must succeed now.

Since it did not, you must work with your mobile provider as well as perhaps the shop to figure out why your BB cannot properly communicate with your carrier network.

Good luck!
