Battery indicator doesn't work?

Hello,

My girlfriend has a problem with her blackberry torch. Last night her phone felled out of her bed (20cm.). Well, there wasn't any weird behavior. WASN'T! Because after a few hours her phone displayed "Your battery is low and your phone will turn off", but the indicator in the right corner said it was charged for 60%!

After rebooting and a factory reset nothing changed. Sometimes it works for a few minutes, and then it shut down again.

What's wrong?

Gino

You've already done a factory reset? Why?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

A hard reset of the Blackberry is a battery pull. A factory reset is very involved.

So did you do a hard reset?

Was her device on a charger when it fell?

I had a Storm 9550 that started having the same symptoms you describe.

I finally found that I had cracked the battery without damage to the device.

I'd suggest pulling the battery and inspecting it closely for any cracking in the case. and make sure the contacts are clean. Inspect the inside of the device and make sure the battery is seated correctly. Check both  the media card and the SIM make sure they are seated correctly as well.

See if you can reboot the device using the safe mode. Only core services will load so the device is a stable as possible. If you can get there you want to run the device self test.

The procedure are attached below, let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

KB16037 Using the Self Test application on the BlackBerry smartphone

KB02141How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone

No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON.
Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed.
