Two nights ago I charged my Blackberry Torch 9800 and once it reached 65% it said it was fully charged and it wouldn't charge any more. I unplugged it, let it loose 5% charge and then it let me fully charge it. I then noticed that throughout the day I wasn't using it much however the battery very quickly decreased. I thought this might be a one off however I woke up this morning after putting my phone on charge again last night I found it had reached 70% and refused to charge any more until I unplugged and recharged again. Yet again the battery life is decreasing a lot more rapidly than usual. I haven't recently downloaded anything that could cause this. My apologies if this has already been posted, I did try and look but I couldn't find anyone with this exact problem. I'm just wondering if anyone could help me before I fork out and get myself a new battery to try. I don't know anyone with the same phone as me so I can't borrow parts.
Thanks in advance,

try cleaning the battery contacts with an eraser.
On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine
Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage
using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme
remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.

Hey thank you SO much for your fast reply, wish I could say the same about mine ! My phone annoyingly decided that it would work again so I'm still not sure what the problem was. If it does happen again I will definitely be trying the suggestions you made, thank you so much I really do appreciate it
