BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

Sorry guys, but I couldn't find the answers I want properly.

Anyway, have RIM released an update about the so called lock button on top of the phones? I noticed its not just this model that is affect. I have loads of times 'pocket call' people, sent texts to people and delete apps because the button is so sensative that it unlocked the phone.

Also having problems with the appworld keep crashing, this happens every other time.

Last thing is that I have noticed a update for the 9800, but does this include UK customers. As I checked the phone and it says I'm up to date.

Thanks in advance

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

Not touching the button is all you have to do to stop unwanted calls and texts.  Unfortunately, this is both the easiest thing and the hardest thing to do, all at once.

If the accidental pressing of the button is a problem, I suggest putting your phone in a holster.  By doing this, the magnets in the holster will align with the internal workings of the phone and will shut off your screen, basically putting your phone to sleep.  (Note that this is only applicable if the holster is specially designed for your model of phone i.e. don't try to use a Bold holster on a Torch.)  It's impossible to access the phone while it's in the holster, thereby making accidental presses of the lock button a thing of the past.

I hope that helps you.  :smileyhappy:

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

That seem bad on behalf of RIM, because it seems that the BlackBerry Torch rangeare having this problem, including the new Torch 9850. I'm going to Thorpe Park on Monday so this means that while I'm on a ride, its going to be calling people without releasing it :smileysad:

Once its called 999 (emergency services) and got told off and said if I do it again, then its likely that I will be arrested for resting there time. I would put it in a holster, but I don't like leather and hate the feel of it. What is I put a pin on my phone, will that stop it calling people by locking the phone until you enter the right pin?

I feel that paying for an app that should be included with the phone is stupid, and read a lot of reviews of them saying that it drains the battery life by up to half.

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

I found that my torch would easily unlock as well while in my pocket. I just put a password on my phone, this way when the unlock button is pressed, the most that happens is my phone asking for a password, The least amount of time you can have to lock your phone is 1 minute, so if i put it in my pocket as soon as i lock it, I go to the menu and press "lock phone".

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

I keep my 2 month old Torch in the correct BB magnetic holster - as you call it - primarily to make the battery last long but also to keep the phone in good condition - or so I thought. The back plate on the Torch is made of such a flimsy plastic, that every time I pull the phone out of the pouch - as I call it - then the back comes off.

I took it to my service provider - Vodacom - and they said that to repair this I would have to be without my BB for 7 - 10 days.

This is so ridiculous.

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

I never heard of Vocacom, but I assume you had the option of buying the extended warranty when you got your phone. (I'm with bell and pay a small fee every month) If you do have it, they should give you a blackberry loner phone. Mine is currently sent away to get fixed from various problems for  two weeks, and I was supplied with one. I would check with your service provider about any extra warranty, and the terms and coniditons, to see if you are legiable for a loner phone.

Re: BlackBerry Torch 9800 problems

Vodacom is basically Vodafone in South Africa.  They will loan you a phone while yours is being repaired or in this case as advised - replaced but it is usually only a very basic phone and definately not a BB.

What I find so ridiculous is that the Vodacom customer Care dept advised that the only 2 month old phone needs replacing - but why does this take 7 - 10 days.

HELP! BlackBerry Torch 9800 MAJOR ISSUES

I am experiencing major problems with my BB Torch.  Failure to make calls, ending calls periodically and intermittently, unable to answer calls,  caller able to hear me but i cant hear them, callers voice being severely distorted.

This is the 2nd handset I have had.  The first had the same problems, the second has these problems but worse.

My provider say they will not replace the handset for a different model until i have had three.

Any help?
