Blackberry Torch 9800 Data Plan Question

I just switched my phone 2 days ago from a non-smartphone with no data plan. Then, I unlocked my blackberry. I thought that if I only use the wi-fi on my blackberry I would never have to pay for the data plan and so i did that. However, yesterday i received a message from BB says that I needed a data plan for the smartphone and without even asking, I automatically had to pay for it. I understand paying the data plan this month but can it be changed? So what i am really asking here is:

Is there any way AT ALL that I don't have to pay for the next month's data plan since I only plan on using the Wi-Fi at all times.

THANK-YOU FOR READING!

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 Data Plan Question

AT&T will automatically add in the dataplan if you have data services on.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 Data Plan Question

You will be unable to use the majority of data features on the phone without a blackberry data plan, even via wifi.

I believe you are able to use opera browser If you load itonto the blackberry - but the likes of push email, Facebook and twitter apps, BBM and the native browser will not work without a data plan.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 Data Plan Question

you will have to turn off data services, turn off carrier signal, then turn on wifi and data services

then repeat backwards everytime you want to use wifi

or look for an OS 7.1 device ( 9810 ) which can turn off carrier data and you can use wifi anytime you want
