Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

lainshi, What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > > Device > About, third line down beginning with a "v.6.0.x.xxx", What is yours?

I would also look at Options > Security > Memory Cleaner and make sure that is DISABLED.

And, let me ask, did you move a Media Card from an older BlackBerry to this Torch?

Would you remove the Media Card for a couple days and tell us if the lagging and re-starting persists?

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

Hello,

My operating system that it is on is:

6.0 Bundle 2647 (v6.0.0.0.600, Platform 6.6.0.223)

I hope that is the information that you are looking for

I have just checked the memory cleaner option is disabled

I did not have a media card attached to this as this is my first Blackberry Torch that I received recently and I didn't have enough time to get a memory card for it yet.

All the problems that have occured and have mentioned in this post happened without the memory card in it.

I have already took out the sim card and placed it back into my old phone because of this problem.

Thanks in advance for your assistance, JSanders =)

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

I think your best bet is to backup your data, wipe the device (with BBSAK or JL_Cmder) and reload the OS fresh with NO third party applications for a couple days and see what happens.

You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/

See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.

First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

[ Edited ]

I have a problem with trying to wipe the blackberry without the battery, only plugged into the computer via USB. However, both the BBSAK and JL_Cmder cannot detect detect the device. But the App loader can detect it.

Is there way I can fix or do something about that?

I have wiped and reloaded the OS with the correct carrier with the battery and the restarting problem still occurs, when it is on the battery on its own. While it is plugged in (vis USB), there isn't a restarting problem.

How about putting the battery back it the phone. I believe that both BBSAK and JL_Cmder only see the device if the battery is in.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

I was able to wipe and reload the OS onto the Torch only with the battery because that is the only way that the either BBSAK and JL_Cmder will be able to read the device.

The device still has the same problem, where the lights will appear and then the device restarts again.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9800 reboots after led light shows red twice.

your only hope may be in following the this below:

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

*****************
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php

If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371
