Blackberry Torch 9860

I am not sure if blackberry believes in support for its customers but atleast I am sick of it. Purchased BB torch 9860 just 8 months back and it has started giving JVM error, it does not boots and I have to format my device every alternate day. When complaint about this at service centre they tell me thats "No Problem" and hence they cant rectify.. Goshhhhhhhh If somewhere the CEO of the company can read this post, I wanna say u **bleep** OFF !!!!

Most disgusting phone of my life

Hi aggarwalshubhi,

It is definitely frustrating that you are having this kind of issue. Mostly, JVM errors like this would need to be addressed primarily by trying to connect your device to the computer and you try to create a backup of your data. Have you tried contacting your carrier/service provider about this? They have a BlackBerry Technical Support team to assist you on this one.

You are definitely right about going to a service center to have this fixed. Since this is under warranty, that should cover all the support for free.

I am wishing you'll have this issue fixed right away.

This is a user-to-user community support forum. We are not RIM employees, but volunteers who enjoy assisting other users. RIM personnel rarely comment on queries posted here. You would have noticed this in the message upon registration.

So, your rant is out of place here.

If you want tell us what the JVM error number is, we would be glad to try to help.

Re: Blackberry Torch 9860

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.

BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

*****************
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php

If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371

Additional information:
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB24395 "Error 523", "App Error 523", or "JVM 523" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

Re: Blackberry Torch 9860

Thanks JSanders

This method fixed my 9860. Though I didn't see 'USB PIN - UNKNOWN' (shows my original PIN instead), but it runs.

Clearest direction that I ever see.

Thank you & keep it up!

Re: Blackberry Torch 9860

Hi. I've done everything suggested by you and many others. My laptop is filled with softwares and I had to delete some so they don't conflict. My phone still boots 3/4 of the way and freezes.  I updated it through the 'Programs, common files..." method and I was told the new OS had been installed only to restart the phone and there's still no difference. Its been on for almost a week and extremely frustrating. Is there something else I can do that hasn't been suggested?

Have you tried starting yours in Safe Mode?
