Hi,
i bought the Blackberry Torch 9860 around 2 weeks back.
due to some reason, an app downloaded from appworld was causing problems during the battery pull of my device, so i did a clean wipe of the handheld.
upon restarting the device i found the Blackberry digital compass missing, it was there before wiping as i used to use it often. i can't find it under applications list when connected to desktop manager. theres no installation file available on the net.
please help.
providing you all details of the device:
Blackberry 9860
OS 7.0 Bundle 1465 (v 7.0.0.296, Platform 5.0.0.496)
Carrier: Vodafone Essar (India)

I had the same problem on the Torch 9810. In the end I had to do a full security wipe and then use the desktop software to reinstall the device software (use Device - update - view other versions). It worked for me.

JCW4b's solution is what you should be trying.
Plug your phone into your PC via USB and open BlackBerry Desktop Software. If you don't have it, get it from www.blackberry.com/desktop from your PC's browser.
Once you've plugged your phone in and it's been recognized, click Device at the top of the software then Update from the drop-down menu. If you're offered a newer version of OS and you wish to download it, proceed. If you don't wish to download the newer version or you're not offered a newer version, click View Other Versions. Choose the one with (Currently Installed) beside it and load it.

BlackBerry Desktop Software might say that your phone is up to date. If that's the case, click Device>Update>View Other Versions and pick the one with "Currently Installed" written beside it. If that doesn't restore the compass, then look in the left column of Desktop Software for Applications. Click it and see if Compass is one of them. If so, make sure there's a check mark beside it and try getting it back that way.

OK, plug your phone into BlackBerry Desktop Software once again. Once it's recognized, click Applications on the left side of the software. Compass should be there and if you check the box beside it and click Apply, it should restore it.
I hope that helps you. ![]()
