I have replaced battery, charged battery, and taken it out and still have the cross out. will not load anything and will not connect to bb desktop. what else could be wrong and how can i fix it???????????

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.

OK, in that case, you now need to use more drastic measures. To do so, you must use that "known good" battery, the one that worked in the other BB (from the steps I provided above) -- you did not state clearly, so I can only take you at your word that you actually performed all of the above and now know for sure which battery is actually "good".
This will be destructive to all data...hopefully you've been taking regular backups of your device. Hopefully one of these will work for you:
Keep in mind that none of this will be useful if the problem is deeper in the hardware.
