Call Failed due to FADING ??

Hi, I'm hoping someone out there can help me!

I sent my Torch 9810 in to Rogers for repair (phone was overheating). Today they sent me a new replacement, because they couldn't fix the old one....but now the new one can't send or receive calls.

I keep getting the error message "Call Failed due to Fading". Is this a network or a hardware problem?

Rogers said it was the network and tech support said it could be the hardward....any suggestions?

I would suggest trying a different SIM card in the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 smartphone.  This type of error is usually network or SIM related.

Hi ViciousFerret, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I've already tried changing the SIM card and even did the battery pull. Still no change. I was able to make and receive a call when I changed the network to 2G.... I get full strength in 3G but no calls will go thru. Any other suggestions still appreciated!

Hey myrad,

 

Sorry for the delay in replying.

 

So if you're using EDGE/GPRS (2G) the phone calls are working perfectly.  It sounds to me you have a radio issue now but to make sure it is a radio issue, check the following:

 

1.  Are you using the most up to date device software from www.blackberry.com/update or from Rogers?

2.  If not, I suggest updating and then try to reproduce the issue.

3. If you are running the latest software then I suggest contacting Rogers to get a replacement since it is a radio issue.

Hi ViciousFerret,

Thank you again for the suggestions. I am using the most current version 7.1 so am assuming it is a radio issue as you've suggested. I've contacted Rogers and have requested a swap. I'll keep you posted on the next one I receive.
