Configuring email with BB

Hello can anyone help me??!! I have a work email set up as  POP3 account on my website hosted by dataflame. My email is working fine on my laptop via microsoft office and I've configured it with my I-Pad but my blackberry doesn't seem to like it!

I've spent the last 3 days on the phone to vodafone (my phone provider). We've tried everything  Vodafone can do and have checked and re-checked the user name and password, also even tried a BES account (whatever that is) and the BB still won't configure. I know it's not the device as I've tested it by setting up a yahoo account and the people at Vodafone tell me it's the BB server that is causing problems - it doesn't seem to like it.

Can anyone advise as it's driving me a bit mad

Cheers

Rachel

Re: Configuring email with BB

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...

1)
• Go to mobile.blackberry.com
• Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
• Choose the appropriate email set up options.

If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.

Re: Configuring email with BB

You need to call Vodafone and CONFIRM that they have your device provisioned with the BlackBerry Data Plan.

Re: Configuring email with BB

Hi... I've done this and they have confirmed I have the data plan... don't know where to turn next. Vodafone customer services say that some emails can't configure with BB but this is very rare.. don't know what to do

Re: Configuring email with BB

Hi Rachel,

This is my first post so, Hello to everyone on BB Support Forum.

Use 3 or 4G to make the initial connection then reconnect to wifi.  It should work.  Full story below.

I've had exactly the same problem as you.  Pulling my hair out over it.  Spent ages on the phone and internet talking to Dataflame support.

I then tried to set it up again when I was in Budapest airport waiting for a delayed flight. It worked!

All good.  Then I got prompted to upgrade my OS and no dataflame email anymore.

I tried for a day to get it to work finally found your post and tried what was suggested logging on to mobile.blackberry etc but had the same frustration as you.

Then I wondered if it was my ISP (not sure why) so I disconnected from my home wifi and used 4G instead.  Guess what?  It worked.

Hope this works for you.  I know how frustrating it is.

All the best,

Andy

Re: Configuring email with BB

the same thing happened to me.
I deleted work e-mail account (since it wasn't working anymore), and now bb doesn't allow me to create it again.
Vodafone doesn't know, bb doesn't know, I finally don't know...
Should I throw it from the window?

Re: Configuring email with BB

Hi fabiopatacchiola,

Don't prep to launch just yet.  If you're trying to re-connect or re-install your e-mail account while on a wifi network it might not be successful as I found.

What you might try is disconnecting from the wifi by turning off the wifi on your phone, and then carrying out the re-installation of your e-mail account over a 3G or 4G connection.

This worked for me.  I have no idea why, only guesses.

Post back if you have any joy with it.  It would be good to know if this is a fix or just a bit of luck on my part.

All the best,

Andy

Was that an employer-provided BES enterprise or exchange email account?

If so, try as was described above, or also, check if there is an IT Policy on the account at Options > Security > Information. What is on that screen?
