can i not just send it into rim... and pay them to replace it?
You will have to send it back thru your carrier as RIM will advise you that you have to go thru them. Contact your carrier and ask the rep to speak to warranty to get the correct proceedures for returning your phone to RIM for repair.
I'd let the rep know what is going on and they can check to see if you're still under warranty.

To seek repair assistance directly from RIM, they have something called Incident Support:
Be advised...even the initial call to them costs you money, no matter what else happens. You might be better off seeking private repair assistance. Places like Horizon Wireless do such work. Seek and you shall find, I am sure!
