Just got a new Torch via Amazon. Loaded the SIM and the phone worked fine. Started activation and plugged in for the night. Now in the morning the device is locked - and I did not set up the password. Is there a default?? Tried 0000 and the last four digits of my phone? Not sure what else to try.

There is no default password. you have to enter one in to enable it.
do you mean BES activation?
if yes the BESAdmin can set a new password for you
