Handset speaker suddenly not working in the "Handset" mode

the handset speaker suddenly stopped working in Headset Mode.  It works fine in speaker phone mode.  I have restarted the  phone by removing the battery & the problem persists.  Phone is 18 months old.  Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums. 

 

In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry® smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.

Once you have backed up your BlackBerry smartphone please follow the link below to complete a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone software.

I did as you suggested, but the problem persists. It temporarily went away over the weekend after talking via blue tooth, but it resurfaced today. Any further suggestions?

I had an issue with my audio scket was dusty and after inserting the head set plug 50 times it worked after.
