I updated contact backup on my 8520 and it has hanged my phone

I updated contact backup on my curve 8520 2 months ago and since then my phone has hanged. All The buttons seized working. The only thing being displayed on The phone is The application permissions page and I have tried several times to delete the application on my blackberry desktop software but it just won't delete. Please help.

When you get a chance, do a battery pull.  When the red light goes away on the front of the phone, hold down the back button the entire time while the phone is booting up.  When the boot is complete, the phone will enter safe mode.

See if you can delete the application in safe mode.
