Issues with BB in China

I travel to China frequently and have issues there because Blackberry has NO SERVICE PLAN there.  There are two major phone companies there, CHINA UNICOMM and CHINA MOBILE and niether have Blackberry Service plans.

 

Therefore, i need to re-configure my phone to work with a normal data/phone service plan with a different SIM.  I have the SIM but cannot configure my blackberry to operate as a "normal" smartphone to send/receive emails.  I have read about APN's and such but cannot change those settings on my phone and because the Chinese phone companes do not have any cooperation with Blackberry they have no product knowledge to help me.  My only option is to buy another phone that is non-Blackberry.

 

Any help on this would be really really appreciated.

 

As someone running their own busienss i am baffled at RIM's lack of attention to the biggest market in the world.  Chinese people LOVE doing business, they work 24/7 and i think are naturally inclined to the Blackberry product but the distributor in China is doing a lousy job.  No deal with the two largest providers?  No product support or visibility in the world's most business hungry country?  If you want some consultancy on how to actually make money in China let me know.

 

I love my blackberry, please dont make me buy a Samsung Galaxy S2!!
