You are free to use any Carrier OS , those BlackBerry Device Software are developed by BlackBerry and released by respective Carriers . If you use other Carrier OS pack it will not lock your device to that specific Carrier .But if you use other Carrier OS packs then you have to delete a few VENDOR . XML files .Other wise loader will not allow your to update your device OS.
So if you want to update your device OS Go ahead .
