Lost the french language doing the update to 7.1 with Telus and my Torch 9810

I'm a Mac user and used the Blackberry Desktop Software and even though the OS is working fine, I can't choose french as a display language. For example, I'm stuck with english, dansk, català, suomi, magyar, polski and some chinese caracters, but not french. How can I retrieve my french phone?

Re: Lost the french language doing the update to 7.1 with Telus and my Torch 9810

Hello!

Language availability on the device is a two-step process:

  1. Installing, to the BB, an OS package that includes the language you desire
  2. Activating, on the BB, the language you desire

Step 1 is governed by this KB:

  • KB05305Localization support for BlackBerry smartphones

However, using MAC, you can't use all of the "tricks" that can be used on PC. If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

If they have available to you an OS package that, per the other KB, includes your desired language, then you can install that and regain it. But, if they do not, then you would have to use OS packages from a different carrier, and you would have to use a PC for that.

Good luck and let us know!
