Apparently some driver issue here?
My PC does not recognize my Torch nor does it connect to the BB DM
I am plugged directly into my PC not a USB hub
Using latest DM
Win 7 64 bit

Hello!
Unfortunately, I cannot find "MTP USB device error" in any of the public references...are you sure that's the complete and accurate error message? In any event, here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:
Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
Hopefully something there is helpful!
Cheers!

It says device driver not successfully installed
On the list it says MTP USB Device with a red X - Failed
I have tried pretty much all of those. Disabled power management. Plugged into back USB port
The other 2 drivers on the list installed ok... but this MTP USB one did not.

Maybe this will be useful:
Also, a total clean start over sometimes gets it:
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
It is sounding like a Windows problem rather than a BB problem...hard to be certain, though.
Good luck!

Ok so the USB drivers are now installed so that did help... but the Desktop Manager is not connecting to my phone.
In my PC's device manager there is a listing as Blackberry at the top of the list. So I believe the PC at least is detecting when its plugged in. No idea still why the DM isnt connecting. ugh this sucks
My laptop is the only thing that the DM will connect to my phone but I cannot always use that one.

I had tried most of those before yes and look over the others.
The only difference between my laptop and PC is the OS
Running vista on the laptop and win 7 64 bit on my PC.
I had shut off the USB power management. Plugged into the back of the PC. uninstalled the DM and user settings. and installed the latest version. Drivers now updated. I am usually pretty good at figuring out issues but this one is driving me nuts because I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is happening.

Thats what I am figuring as well. Because I do not believe that Win 7 64bit should itself be the issue.
I suspect its a setting somewhere thats the issue... o well the search continues. I do appreciate the effort to help!
