I just received my first BlackBerry this morning and I cannot work this thing! What does this SOS mean, how do I fix it, and what am I doing wrong? All I did was put the battery in, (the SIM card was already in) and turn it on. I couldnt update any of my setup items like e-mail or social networking because I couldnt connect to the internet. HELP PLEASE! ![]()

SOS means you have no mobile network service or connection.
Your SIM card is likely not provisioned... as you said.
SIM cards are basically totally controlled for provisioning by the mobile service provider.
You need to call them, you didn't say who your carrier is, but that is who you need to call.
