New item icon ... but no new items!

Hello,

 

I've been unable to get rid of the red 'new item' icon since it first appeared about 10 days ago.

I've checked through everything I can think of - messages, calendar, BB World etc. - and made sure that I had 'show all' on in case the new items were in a hidden folder/program.

 

The supposed new item notification appeared after eventually fixing a longstanding missing App World/BB World icon problem. When it first appeared, I only had one new item I couldn't find, now I have 2!

I've just followed the instructions and did find an unopened message, a missed call notification. I opened it and then rebooted ... and still have the 2 'new items'!

Hmmm...very odd...and the screenshot you provided doesn't conform to most new message notifications anyway:

Normally that star is placed onto another icon to help identify which app contains the new message. But have you checked all apps that are listed with that icon in this image?

 

Further, have you tried to send yourself a new email...and does this increment to 3? Or does a separate email notification icon appear?

 

There may be some app you have installed that is generating this...but you'll need to look into all that you have installed to see if you can find it.

When I get a new email/text (or send one to myself), a separate, corresponding icon appears and the 'new item' count stays the same.

 

I've checked all the apps listed with the icon as shown, but to no avail. There really doesn't seem to be anything new anywhere! (I've recently uninstalled BBM but this problem started before that and there was nothing unread within BBM either.)

 

I'll investigate all the other apps I've installed and hopefully will find something, but it's a bit of a mystery so far.
