No alarm or ringtone on 9810

My phone does not have sound when I recieve an email, text message, phone call, or when the alarm goes off. It statred about 24 hours ago and I did download a new app yesterday. Any ideas on how to help?

upper left of screen is a speaker icon, you might have selected silent profile by accident

No, I didn't select silent by accident. The icon under the menu is on 'Normal'. BTW, the 'Vibrate' icon does not seem to work, either. 

 

Any other suggestions.

I resolved the problem by removing and re-inserting the battery.

sometimes that works too, I like to do a battery pull first when things seem odd
