I did an upgrade last night over the wireless network and although all my contacts are still there, all my pictures, videos and music is missing. However, when I go into any of the folders e.g pictures, the icons are there and according to the properties they are stored on the media card.
If it's stored on the media card then why can't I see anything?

try removing the media card and adding it again

Did that. Now I'm getting a msg that my media card isn't formatted + now I have 0 pics, videos and music.

are u sure the pictures were on the media card? updating the os on a device does not delete the content on a media card

Now I've taken the battery out and rebooted the phone. It's now recognising the media card but still no pics etc. Feeling very sick at the thought of losing all my stuff.
I think if there's a risk of data geeting lost by doing a wireless upgrade then a warning should be flashed up before proceeding.

Definitely. I had over 1000 pics.

Try a Battery pull please, with the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery 15 seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot device. This will clear all cache like rebooting a PC. Then try again and see if your problem persists.
as for the media card you might have to try recovery software on a PC to get the info off the card, plenty of free ones to do this on the web
many electronic stores carry USB to SD adapters like best buy, radio shack maybe even walmart
lists a few recovery software places

I tried using a photo recovery program that I downloaded from the internet. Still no luck.
Is it possible to recover data after the media card has been formatted? I don't think I did this but I did get a msg asking me if I wanted to format my media card which I cancelled.

Trying to retrace my steps. Absolutely desperate to get my baby's photos and videos back.
I got a msg to say that my media card needs to be formatted and I clicked no. Is it possible that I could have lost my data anyway?
Most importantly, how can I get it back?

did you use the recovery progam with a MicroSD adapter and not with the phone?
