Good day,
My 9800 doesnt want to switch on and when i try repairing the OS via the Desktop manager it downloads everything and freezes at the following stage: "Reconnecting to JVM". What could be the possible cause of this and what solutions are available?

Hello TshepoSL and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone.
Try using the Force Detect method as shown in KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader to reload your software.
If the same issue is happen during the reload process, it would be advised you contact your point of sale for hardware repair options.
Thanks!

This is a reply to TshepoSL
I experienced this same issue but then modified the procedure when to insert the battery.
KB10144 suggests : a t point 6.
Reinsert the Battery which was removed in step 1. Click Install Update
I did not install the battery before I did the update but inserted the battery when “Reconnecting to JVM” appeared and the update got stuck. Be careful not to lose the USB connection while inserting the battery.
After the battery was inserted the download continued without any issue. Maybe, this might help
