Reinstall Maps

Hey There,

I have a BB Torch 9860. Fiddling with my phone (actually trying to make Google Maps my default Maps client), I deleted the BB Maps.

Now I am unable to reinstall it. I went to the BB website to get a download link for the Maps but that accessing that link on my phone, the website says that my phone doesn't support Maps.

Please tell me how to restore the lost Maps that came with the phone.

Regards,

Vanshaj A

Re: Reinstall Maps

Quickest way would be to go through the Desktop Manager software.

Download and install your current OS onto your PC (if you haven't already), then use the following document to guide you on reinstalling Maps.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Reinstall Maps

For some weird reason, even though I have the latest BB Desktop Software, none of my applications show up when I connect.

Tried this through USB as well as Bluetooth. I am able to sync music and media files though, just the Applications tab remains empty.

Re: Reinstall Maps

Do you have your current device OS installed on your PC?

Re: Reinstall Maps

I don't think so. How do I find out? And if I don't have it, then how do I get it. This is my second blackberry. The first was a Curve 8520.

That showed applications on Desktop Manager. I noticed that the Control Panel has something called Device Software for Curve 8520 but I don't see anything similar for my Torch 9860.

Re: Reinstall Maps

Yeah, go ahead and delete that software for the 8520.

Then on your device, go to your Options icon, then Device>About Device Versions. Your current OS will be on the third line down and will look something like this: v7.0.0.xxx.  You can probably then download that from your carrier's website or on our forums here:

Re: Reinstall Maps

If you can't find the download from your carrier, it won't matter from where you get it, as long as it's the same or an upgrade to what you currently have.

Re: Reinstall Maps

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 to 6.1:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
  2. To add or remove additional applications on the BlackBerry, select Applications.
  3. To add an application, select the + icon. The color will change to Green.
  4. To delete an installed application, select the X icon. The color will change to Red.
  5. Once desired changes are selected, click on Apply to complete the loading process.

Note: It can take several minutes for the applications to be displayed.

Re: Reinstall Maps

Also, we could just go to

http://www.bbh-plus.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2190

on our BB browser, hit the download button, and let the file install.

Works like magic.

But I appreciate the step by step guide that you provided. I am hoping it would solve my other issues like WiFi Sync not installing on the device.
