Ring tone and alerts not making noise

Recently the Ring tones and alerts sounds have stopped making any noise. I checked to make sure they were set correctly and they are. I also took the battery out and back in to reset it. What else can I do to solve this problem?

Hello Beckyb63 and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.

 

When you are in your Media folder and go to play a Ring Tone, does the tone play?

 

If you were to go to edit your Sounds profile and test it, does the sound play? If you were to select a different tone, would it play?

 

If you tried this and answered No to any of the above questions, use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to backup your data and reinstall your device software as shown in KB11320 How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows or KB19915 Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer

DOne all of that and I still have no sound. And now my phone is playing the voice activated commands just out of the blue. Any other suggestions

If the software reload failed to correct the issue it would be advised you contact your mobile network provider and ask a ticket be open with RIM support to investigate this matter further.
