Scan bar codes

I feel like an **bleep**. I can scan a bar code with my torch of of BBM on someone else's torch and it scans fine. But, I have been unable to scan any bar code whether it bee off a flight itinerary, a sign, a magazine or anything else. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Scan bar codes

I installed an app called bar code assistant however I understood this to be used for creating barcodes. I understood that the torch was able to scan bar codes on it's own like it does for BB messenger. I will try and initialize the Barcode Asst and see what that does.

Re: Scan bar codes

I have tried to scan with this new program but unfortunately it just does not want to scan no matter how long I place the scan in the frame of the camera.

Re: Scan bar codes

there is a 2D-barcode reader in BBm, but it is dedicated to scanning BBm profiles.

there is a 2D-barcode reader in AppWorld, but it is dedicated to scanning AppWorld pages.

if you want to scan something else than those two categories, then you will need to install another application.

I wondered the exact same recently, and for my 8900, I recently chose the free application named i-nigma . It does work, but it's not very practical.
