Slide open and handset query

hi

I am a user of Blackberry Torch 9800. I am having the following problems with it.

1) When I slide open my Blackberry, it becomes blank. When I type anything on the keypad it appears, but the screen is blank. I might have used my phone with wet hands due to which this problem started. I have this problem for more than two months. The solutions I have checked must be done immediatley, the one with the rice. I cannot do it coz its been two months already. Please help coz im tired of using the touch keypad.

2) My calls work only on speaker and headset. The handset makes no sound during calls. I performed the 'T E S T' solution and didnt hear any sound. What should I do? Is there any software that can help me?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Honestly Really tired by speaking on speakerphone. :smileytongue:

Re: Slide open and handset query

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Given all you describe, all may indeed be lost. If your BB indeed was water damaged, and you did not immediately treat it, then corrosion could have seeped and expanded inside, causing permanent hardware damage -- no amount of OS/software fixes can help if that is the case. You can try the rice trick now, but I agree that it is unlikely to help given your description (but, it also can't hurt, so might be worth a try anyway).

The only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.

Good luck!

Re: Slide open and handset query

'water damage' is a very generic term, intended to indicate a wide range of possible issues with moisture that creeps into an electronic device. Even a small amount of moisture, if it finds just the right path, can begin to have corrosive effects.

Good luck!
