Re: Stuck on loadup screen and not opening in Desktop manager

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Stuck on loadup screen and not opening in Desktop manager

I'm having the same issue with my torch 9850 (I've tried the safe mode start up and it won't work, I've tried holding it upon the start up screen coming on and press/release/hold)

I've tried to update software (which was already the most up to date) from the desktop manager and it won't load past 3/4 of the way on the start up screen.

HELP!

So you tried, what, 3 maybe 4 times? As I said, it can be very tricky, especially with touch screen devices. I suggest you keep trying different combinations. Otherwise, the remedies will be quite drastic indeed, and hopefully you already have a good backup.

Good luck!

Re: Stuck on loadup screen and not opening in Desktop manager

Or call your provider and get them to connect you to BB Tech support. I had the same problem and BB Tech support after 3 days and 3 different tech people determined my RAM had gone bad. They connected me to a higer up who got authorized to send me a refurbished phone with a 90 day warranty. My phone was less than a month out of warranty. Next time I will buy the extended warranty its suppose to be like a dollar a day. Anyway my refurbished phone is working fine so far and that was back in late Nov or early Dec. Good luck. If you hapened to have bought the warranty Call your contract provider.

Re: Stuck on loadup screen and not opening in Desktop manager

I've tried more like 10-20 or more times, I have re-started it numerous times since it stopped loading on start up about 6 hours ago.

OK...then here are some tricks to try:

You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.

You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:

  1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

Good luck and let us know!Good luck!
