Switch phones

My son's 9810 died and he wants to temporarily use my old 9800. He put his sim card in and it works but he can't get it to be his name and ID instead of the old one on it. Suggestions?

Re: Switch phones

His name and ID? Do you mean to use his BlackBerryID on the temp device?

To change the BlackBerryID on a 'used' device, he will need to reset the device to factory settings (which in effect deletes the old BlackBerryID on the device, allowing one to input the new).

Read this RIM Knowledge Base article to reset your device to the factory settings.

Re: Switch phones

He used Blackberry Protect on his 9810, after wiping the 9800 could he load things from Protect back to the 9800, apps, contacts, etc?

Re: Switch phones

Yes, he should. As a safety measure, he should have a backup of his 9810 on his PC.

But on the 9800, once Protect is installed and the BlackBerryID is entered etc., he should be able to have Protect restore his data from that on Protect. I have seen some users here in this forum have problems with that, but it does work.
