I've had phone for over two years and have synced it several times. Now the BB software doesn't recognize the phone.
I have stopped internet service for the phone but still need to sync it with the laptop, could that be the problem?

It shouldn't be the issues.
Reboot your laptop, try a different USB port on the laptop.
Reboot your 9800 as well, and try it all again.

This may be a foolish question, but I am really struggling with syncing up my google contact list with my BB 9800. I did make sure that the calendar sync is enabled on the config as the Knowledge Base here says to do.
The odd thing is anything I enter on my bb is getting synced up on my google contacts (I can see it on google contacts), but not vice versa. This is a real problem, because I have a rather large contact list I plan to import into google contacts. Also, it means I must use my bb as the prime entry system for all contact information.
Any tips on how to solve this issue?
Thanks!

No, it is a two-way sync process, but I have also been told it takes longer to sync to the device than in the other direction.

I suggest that you delete this gmail account from your BlackBerry, reboot and add it back again.
