The Menu button is unresponsive as well as the return button on the 9810 Torch?

Re: The Menu button is unresponsive as well as the return button on the 9810 Torch?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Thankyou for the advice. I tried that but still nothing. When i re-booted the red light was flashing until i entered the password. Not sure if this is connected. The buttons work however when the keypad is closed?

Re: The Menu button is unresponsive as well as the return button on the 9810 Torch?

Uhhh...sorry, but "nothing"? From what you've said, it sounds like the behavior has now changed from before...so that would hardly be nothing. Can you perhaps be a bit more descriptive to help us understand?

From what you say, I am guessing that when you have the slider closed, the keys work fine. But, when you have the slider open, they do not. Is that what you meant to convey?

If so, that would sound to me like something physically wrong (connectors, cables, etc.) inside the unit...and no amount of internet-distance diagnostics or remedies can help that situation. Only in-hand evaluation by a qualified hardware technician can give you a proper evaluation and estimate.

Then again, if I'm still not understanding your situation, then please clarify.

Thanks and let us know!

Ummm...OK...but your brevity of words makes it hard for me to know and understand your situation. From this reply, I cannot tell if you read and understood all that I said before. Can you perhaps read post 4 again and answer each point for me? I tried to convey what I interpret as your situation, and I need you to confirm or correct that...as it stands, I still cannot understand your situation. So perhaps "more words" will be better than "fewer" for you to use to help me understand?

Thanks.
