Torch 9810's speaker dies randomly!

The speaker and the loudspeaker on my 9810 stop working randomly and when this happens I can't hear anything, by anything I mean, no ringtone and no voice on a call. It can only be fixed by a soft or hard reboot, which is quite annoying when you have to do it every other day. The frustrating part is I miss imprtant calls this way and am left on a call wondering if even the call has been established while the other party hears me well. :/

So far the Torch 9810 has been only but of bad news to me! I hope it is a software issue and RIM looks into this!

It probably is a software issue.  To resolve a software issue, always start with a battery pull.  It sounds like you've already done that so the next step is to reload the OS to your phone.  Something in your OS is acting up so if you reload the whole thing, you'll fix any little problems that might creep up.

To do this, plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Click Device at the top of the software then Update after that.  Choose the version that has Currently Installed beside it.

Let us know if that solves the problem.  :smileyhappy:

Re: Torch 9810's speaker dies randomly!

I have updated my software to 7.1 already and the problem persists. I can't seem to find a specific action that leads to the audio failure. It happens totally randomly. At first I thought it happens after putting the device on silent but that's not the case sometimes it keeps working even after that.

Re: Torch 9810's speaker dies randomly!

are you using a theme? try disabling it

are you using a case? try removing it

Drastic test

have you tried a backup and wipe device and see if it persists with no apps installed?

If after the drastic test it still persists it might be the speaker circuit cutting out and you will need to start warranty support from place of purchase.
