So I uninstalled all 3rd party apps. Same thing happens. Then, after a couple days, I used BBSAK to wipe and reinstall. Again, the screen goes black and phone freezes with five buttons remaining lit. #frustrated!

J,
I am now able to keep phone on but only while the wifi is switched on. I find this a bit weird and it certainly drains my battery a bit faster but it is liveable. Any idea why this is so? I would prefer to keep the wifi switched off when not needed.

Riqey, would you look at your Manage Connections screen > Mobile Network > Network Technology to GSM/UMTS and then Network Mode to 2G only and see how that works, if it has any effect...
Or, tell me what settings you have on that screen now?

The setting is on Global. I changed to GSM/UTMS and network mode 2G then turned off wi-fi and it froze again instantly! ![]()

Yea, you need to leave it on GSM/UMTS, not global.

No. It froze after I switch to GSM and turned OFF wifi.

Hey J, et al,
I am happy to say that I switched to GSM, turned off WiFi and did a soft restart over a week ago and the phone has been working smoothly ever since! Mysterious but true.
Thanks again for all the help.
Happy holidays!
