Torch wont sync contacts with Outlook?

Hi,

I have recently had to wipe my BB Torch and restore a previous back up.

Since then I have not been able to sync the contacts with my Outlook 2007? As part of the rebuild I have deleted an old email account from the service books which seems to be linked to the contacts?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Torch wont sync contacts with Outlook?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

After that, I suggest this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

Good luck!

Re: Torch wont sync contacts with Outlook?

Thank you for your help sdgardne.

I have completed all of the above and restored a previous BB backup into my Torch.

The issue seems to be that I have 587 contacts assigned to an email address I no longer have access to? Is there any way of re-assigning the address book so I can sync my handheld contacts with Outlook please?

KB19704 Multiple Address Book contact lists are created on a BlackBerry smartphone causing issues with synchronization

Re: Torch wont sync contacts with Outlook?

Knowing nothing more than you've posted in here, all I can then suggest is this procedure:

But, in your case, you will need to do even the optional step. Which means first extracting all of your contact data from the BB and getting it correctly represented within Outlook. To do that, you may have to do some tricks...here's a couple:

  • Backup the BB to the PC, and then use a 3rd party PC app (Google will provide you choices) to extract the Contact data
  • Export the contact data from the BB to a CSV file...to do that, you have to use Desktop Software v6 or earlier.

Once you have your contacts as you want them in Outlook, you can proceed with the "start over", wiping out all Contacts on the BB and starting over with a fresh sync from Outlook.

If things still are not correct, you may need to consider removing all Email accounts from your BB, performing a device WIPE, and then starting over clean again. As with the above, be sure you first get all of your data properly reflected in Outlook...both Calendar and Contacts, as well as any other databases that you need...see the backup process link in my auto sig for more information about the various things you should to to prepare for this type of activity.

Good luck!
