Torch wont turn on or charge

Hi there ,

Recently just got my first smartphone and after a week of use I went to bed and did not charge the phone. When I woke up the next morning the phone had a single red flash followed by three faster red flashes. I tired charging the phone and reading the online forums but nothing has worked for me yet . The blackberry device manager will not connect to my device and the chord is perfetly fine. Ive tried removing the battery and charging with the computer but it still flashes and wont turn on. For this being my first smartphone I am truly unimpressed with the quality of craftsmanship and completly fustrated with the product . Is there something I am doing wrong  or is this product just plagued with malfunctioning technology? Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Torch wont turn on or charge

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):

  1. With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
  2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Wait 15 minutes
  5. Insert the battery
  6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does

This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:

  1. Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
  2. Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens

The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.

Good luck and let us know!

Thanks for the response  but it turns out the phone is just junk  , went in to try several new battieries and options to try and get it to boot up but its just garbage. The Lady at the store even tried to sell me a new blackberry 10 today and all I have to say is " I wont buy another peice of Blackberry garbage ; unimpressed to say the least " But thank you again for your response it definatly help me make my decision that much easier .

Well that is indeed a shame...especially to allow one bad experience to taint your opinion of an entire product line. Defects do happen, after all. But, fortunately we have a plethora of choices in our world, and I do hope you find a platform that you can be happy with.

Good luck!
