Touchscreen not working

We've had this Torch 9800 for over a year now and now it will not respond to any screen touches. I can make a phone call by pressing the green phone button and then the number pad comes up and that works, just nothing works on the app screen when touched. Even though I've had this for over a year I'm still pretty baffled on how a lot of things work but I know something is wrong. Any suggestions?

Do a battery pull. Remove your battery while your phone is powered on then replace it.
