I have a data limit on my plan and I was under the impression when I had access to a wifi network, say at my apartment, that my phone would automatically use the wifi instead of the At&t Data Network. Is there any way to turn off the At&t data on my phone? I know I need to have it through the company, but if I could switch it on and off my phone so I can control when it access internet I would like to do that. Still receive phone calls and texts but only use internet when I chose to use it.

When connected to a WiFi router or hotspot, your 9800 will always use the WiFi connection as the preferred data stream for the browser and all other data.

I think Jsanders is right, but if you want to be sure you can go into "mobile network options" and turn off data services. That way you can still receive phone calls but it won't access data via AT&T until you turn it back on.

playadel2001 speaks the truth but keep in mind that a small percentage of websites and apps, including BlackBerry AppWorld, will not work over WiFi. You should have no problem with the majority of your browsing but if you run into something that will not connect via WiFi, start up your data connection again before worrying.

Browser will use WiFi first according to this
Bill is correct that some apps still use connections like APN. Most of the newer apps can be configured to use your preference.
