WIFI CONNECTION

I am in a vacation home.  My computer is connected to wifi router, my Kindle is also.  I had visitors earlier in the week and their phones and computers were also connected.  My bb WILL NOT CONNECT.  I spoke with the carrier and they told me that they couldn't help me.  I must say they did try.  I have used up 70% of my data plan since Feb 1st.  Is there any fix to get me connected to this home's wifi.  I did try over and over to enter password, etc. and the message is always the same about not being able to connect.  TIA

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

Battery pull on the blackberry if you haven't done so.

Have you reset the router?  You may have to reset the router to factory defaults too.  not sure how the security is setup so my advice is general, sorry.

You can also change the security type to wep, etc.

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

Thanks for your response, but, I did do the battery pull and since this is a vacation home (rental - I didn't make that clear) I can't access security information.  I'm totally frustrated since other devices connected without any difficulty.   I do appreciate your trying to help me.

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

I understand, do you know what kind of security is setup on the router?  (wep, etc)

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

I thank you once again for responding.  I have been on the phone for hours this morning with the wireless provider and also my provider.  I have learned that Belkin n router is NOT compatible with a bb.  So, bottom line, I'm just using up my data minutes unless I go to an hot spot or until I return home.

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

I finally got my BB Torch working with a Belkin F6D4230 today.  I found the issue was that the default WEP password set up by a belkin router is 64 characters (hexadecimal), while the BB wifie setup dialog box takes only 63 characters.  I modified the Belkin password to 63 characters (just deleted the last character), entered the same in my BB Torch, and it's working now.

Note that I had to update the WEP password on the other laptops /devices that connect to the router, but it was worth it to get my Torch on wifi.. :smileyhappy:

Took me over a couple of weeks to figure that out.  Hopes this is of help...

cheers

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

That's good information. I don't think they can change the security info on the router.

Re: WIFI CONNECTION

BlackBerry phones not connecting to just ONE manufacturer's router?  That's also news to me and I'm glad it got posted here.  Thanks for the update!  :smileyhappy:
