Hello. The LCD screen for my friend's Torch 9980 stopped lighting up. The phone still makes noises and the keypad still lights up. I tried using my BlackBerry Desktop Software to restore it to original factory settings hoping that would fix the problem, but it didn't.
I looked online and there seems to be several different screen "types". One has a 001/111 code, the other a 002/111, and I think a 004/111 code. Is there a way to tell which screen he has without having to disassemble the phone and looking at the back of the LCD screen?
Hope someone can help. Oh yeah, it was not purchased a mobile phone carrier so returing it to a store isn't really an option and I'm pretty sure the phone is over a year old so the manufacturer's warrenty won't cover him.

I was kind of hoping it'd be like a car where a certain VIN is assigned to it depending on where it's made. I guess I better find some tools and watched a disassembly tutorial!
