black screen red flashing light

Plz help.

Today my touch screen on my bb torch 9800 wouldnt work, I did a battery pull and now my phone wont switch back on. the screen is black and there is a red flashing light.

I have had my bb neary 18 months and never had a prob before.

Can you advise what i should do next,

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

 

Put your BB onto a known-good wall charger for 2 hours, and do not touch it. Then, with it still on that charger, remove the battery, leaving it out for 5 minutes (with the BB still on that charger!). Put the battery back in. If it boots up, leave it alone (still on the charger) for 5 hours to see if it will fully charge and function again.

The same thing happened to me yesterday with my 9800. I have been having touchscreen trouble for the past week or so. Last night I pulled the battery again so I could use the screen for imput. When I put the battery back in, the screen stayed black and the red light flashes slowly.

 

I saw online that this means it is stuck in a boot loop. I tried re-installing the OS & apps, but the device still would not initialize.

How can I do an online upgrage on my 9850 when my computer can't even recognize my phone???
