Was your BlackBerry Maps working previously and only just stopped functioning, or had you never been able to use this feature? Could you please provide the full error message you receive and as much detail as possible about what steps you are performing when you receive the error?
Do you have a data plan from your mobile network provider? If so, could you please verify with them that your plan includes GPS access?

I'm having the same issue too. I have a Bold 9900. It was working fine a few days ago, now all of a sudden, I start getting "Unknown Error" every time I typ ein an address or location name. Sometimes, if i rpeat pressing the search button, after about 50 or so taps, it finally locks onto a search result. I haven't changed anything at all with my phone or settings.
