hi pple, a friend of mine sent me a bb touch 9800 from usa to nigeria, the phone seems to be working fine but the BIS aspect, meaning i can make calls, text etc but cant do bb chat, facebook, twitter etc even though i ve subcribe with my local netwrk provider. i want to know how to unlock it to be able to enjoy these features pls. tnx

First, register the phone once again on the network,

Then resend the service books to your phone,

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Once you've done those two steps, remove your battery while the phone is still on then replace it.

Let us know if that works.

tnx 4 da reply but i ve tried registering like a dozen times, it will say message sent! but i dnt get any reply back or mayb i shld change my service provider and try again. What do u think??? tnx once again

This has already been asked by JSanders in your other thread but I'm going to ask it again with clarification.  Please bear with me if it sounds too juvenile.

In order to use the features you mentioned, you require BIS, or BlackBerry Internet Service.  This is usually called "a BlackBerry data plan" by many people.  It's not a normal data plan, which you could use with just any phone brand, it's a specific data plan required by BlackBerry devices which allows for RIM's push technology to push messages and updates to your BlackBerry phone.  If you don't have BIS, you won't be seeing any updates on apps such as facebook and twitter, as well as your email account you have set up on your phone.

So with that explanation in place, let me ask you..........do you have BIS set up with your carrier?

tnx 4 taking ur time to clarify, but i m absolutely sure i ve a blackberry data plan. i even went to my service provider office they confirm its active, my sim card was removed and tested on another blackberry device and it worked but it didnt in mine, i spent hours there as they try to sort out my problem but to no avail. they jst conclude that the problem is from my phone and they cant do anything about it. so pls what should i do??? tnx again 4 ur time

On your options > Status screen, what is the status of your BlackBerry Internet Service?

ok thank you for your help, but i cant seem to locate status screen on my options, but device and status information which shows signal, battery, file free, pin, IMEI, wlan mac and IP Address

i have looked but cant locate it, this what i have on my options menu: sounds and ring tones, networks and connections, display, typing and input, device, call management, security, accessibility, third party applications. i have searched but cant find it.

Touch the top of your screen, up around the sigtnal indicator.

You should have a screen pop up with Manage Connections.

Scroll to the bottom where it says "Services Status".
